Wolf Supply Company warehouse and mill fire. April 1, 1975.
On April 1,1975, at 8:50 p.m., as firefighters from Mount Wolf were holding a training session at their station, fire was discovered in the Wolf Supply Company complex in Mount Wolf Borough. Despite the quick response of firefighters, the fire quickly spread through the complex. Additional alarms were sounded to bring additional resources to the scene. Three firefighters were injured battling the arson blaze. The fire started in a former lumber shed used by Pennsylvania Power and Light to store several trucks, as well as storage by the John Motter Printing Press Company. The fire spread to a number of other buildings in the complex, damaging items stored by Naylor Candies, L.K. Poff Plumber, Pennsylvania Dutch Candies, and Katherine Beecher Candies. Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to the sprawling Packless Industries plant adjacent to the complex. Many areas of the borough were without power and water for several hours during the fire.
